Beyond the farm
Community is based on a balance of rights and responsibilities. Globalisation has been good at enforcing perceived ‘rights’ but has neglected responsibilities. One result has been that as consumers and communities we have been so distanced from the products that we consume we are unable to take responsibility for our choices. We encourage our customers to become directly responsible for the food they choose to consume. We also encourage them to think about their wider responsibilities for food, energy and waste.
We have strong charitable links to the Oxford homeless centre, community groups and local charities. We encourage our customers to make donations whilst placing their orders.
We also work with Willowbrook Charity to provide access to our farm and events for people on low-incomes, refugees, BAME, disabled, and vulnerable people.
This approach relies on our own personal efforts, local relationships with our customers, our suppliers, our volunteers and the local community in general. We are guided in this regard by the saying of the prophet Muhammad that “your religion is evidenced by the nature of your social interactions”.
“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.”

Regular Donations
In addition to our own personal donations as a family and as a farm, we encourage and facilitate customers to make a donations through us. This is given in produce (meat and eggs) to local charities and Homeless Oxfordshire (O’hanlon House).
This is counted every month and updated after each donation. Here you can see our current donations as well as our historical amounts for each year.
An alternative economy
We hope to contribute to the development of an alternative economy, where nature is valued, produce is reared with respect, responsibility is taken for our energy use, our waste and our buildings. We welcome community involvement and we are open to suggestions for events and activities.
It is only by taking responsibility and caring for our environment and our communities together, that we can hope to make a positive change.
