About the Event
Carving freshly cut green wood is immensely satisfying and the fibres yield to a sharp blade. Using axe, craft knife and hook knife we will fashion locally sourced native hardwoods into functional and beautiful spoons.
You will start the process by cleaving round wood and shaping a spoon blank with an axe before going on to finesse your design with a carving knife and hollow out the bowl with a hook knife. There will also be an opportunity to sue a draw knife and shave horse.
David will focus on using sharp hand tools safely and respectfully and will include demonstaryoons of how to keep tools sharp, and storing, finishing and decorating your spoon. All tools and materials are provided, just bring enthusiasm!
