As we come into spring it’s a great time to forage, learn and enjoy nature, teach our growing family and customers about seasonal, wild and edible plants.

Using last years harvest of our garlic and honey we have been busy preparing jars and jars of Honey & Garlic ferment. We have found this to be amazing when feeling under the weather, sore throat, coughs, stomach bugs etc. Especially for young children, our own children love both the honey and the garlic. The earlier we make this the better to allow more time for the fermenting and infusing, after a month or two the garlic is much less intense!

Honey garlic is a great natural health food due to it’s amazing potential health benefits. Here are some of the potential health benefits:

  1. Boosts immune system: Garlic is known for its immune-boosting properties, and the fermentation process may enhance these benefits. The honey garlic ferment may also help to fight off harmful bacteria and viruses.
  2. Improves digestion: Fermented foods like honey garlic ferment are rich in probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria that can improve gut health and aid in digestion.
  3. Reduces inflammation: Garlic has anti-inflammatory properties, and the fermentation process may enhance these benefits. Honey also has anti-inflammatory properties and may help to reduce inflammation in the body.
  4. Promotes heart health: Garlic has been shown to lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, which can reduce the risk of heart disease. Honey may also have heart-protective properties.
  5. Anticancer properties: Garlic has been shown to have anticancer properties, and the fermentation process may enhance these benefits.

It’s important to note that these potential health benefits are not conclusive and further research is needed to confirm them. It should not be used as a substitute for medical treatment. If you have a medical condition or are considering taking a supplement, it’s important to consult with your healthcare provider first.
